Orbit Quilt Sew Along- March 2025

Orbit Quilt January - March 2025
Orbit Quilt January - March 2025

Two thoughts ocurred simultaneously as I attached the March segment to the rest of the quilt this month: WHOOOHOOOO we are now full width of quilt! and AH CRAP, we're a quarter of the way 2025 already?! Easter is around the corner and so is my son's birthday. Eeeepppp.

Its been an emotionally draining month over here, and its really shown in my fabric pulls. I've either selected really bright fabrics to help brighten my day, or surrendered to the "Blerghhh" and pulled something muted or gloomy. It also was overcast for what felt like the entire month (it was for 3 weeks) and I am a soul that needs sunshine and blue skies.

Dates of note for us this month, mainly my youngest's 10th birthday! She's going to be a crazy cat lady when she grows up, so I am sure you can guess the fabric she chose. We had a birthday party, visit from the MIL and a whole lot of "life happened" this month.

The mission to improve my hand sewing continues, slowly by slowly I think I am improving! Now! Onto the other Orbit quilts!!! Shameaka will be MIA for a little while, I will miss the updates on her beautiful wax print Orbit. Lucky for us though, Jenny and Lee are still working thier quilts and they are so unbelievably lovely.

I am loving Jenny's quilt. We are both doing a "what calls to me" quilt, but the way we tackle the layout is so different. Same quilt pattern, completely different feel to the quilt. Absolute magic.

...and here is Lee's stunning temperature Orbit. Look at those colours!!!

Lee was kind enough to include some text for hers <3 Lots to love about using the Orbit quilt for my first temperature quilt …

Knowing what day it is and that a quarter of the year has passed!

Having one small task to end the day keeping me on track

Recognising warm and cool colours and being tickled when one day’s low nearly matches the next days high. Excitement as secondary shapes incidentally reveal themselves.

And

Taking the WIP pic to see yellows are actually glistening delightfully among the colours when I had been worrying it was going to be ‘all about yellow’.

I hope you have all enjoyed the update! I know love getting the update photos each month. xx Cass
